1. Saw frames
Can the saw frame be separated at a later date?
It is not possible to separate the saw frame horizontally or vertically at a later date. With the exception of the COMPACT model, a horizontal separation of the saw frame can be performed during production.
2. Strip and pack cutting
Can strip cutting be performed automatically?
This is possible with the CONTROL model, which has an automatic cutting mechanism. However, the horizontal dimension setting must be performed manually. Use the fine adjustment. If using the CONTROL model with EPS.y the setting must be performed via the touchscreen display. For more than one identical strips you have to press the start-button for every cut. A fully-automatic strip cutting process is not possible.
Can pack cutting be performed automatically?
Yes, simultaneous processing of several panels of the same size is possible, up to a maximum cutting thickness of 60 or 80 mm.
3. Using DIA saw blades
Can DIA saw blades be used on STRIEBIG panel saws?
We recommend the use of DIA saw blades on all machines equipped with a scoring saw unit.
What are the advantages of DIA saw blades?
The service life is extended by a factor of x-times. The higher procurement costs are quickly recouped through lower sharpening and conversion costs.
4. Evolution and Control
Can the EVOLUTION or CONTROL models operate without compressed air in an emergency?
No, this is not possible for safety reasons.
Can accessories such as the scoring saw unit and the grooving accessory be retrofitted on the EVOLUTION and CONTROL models?
No, these accessories require the relevant pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems and the relevant software. Models build in 2008 or later are equipped with a VSA scoring saw unit preparation, retrofitting can be done without any problems.
5. Grooving
Can grooves also be cut automatically?
Yes, this is possible if the AUTOMAT and CONTROL models are equipped with the grooving accessory.
6. Cut optimisation program
Is there a cut optimisation program available for Striebig panel saws?
Numerous cut optimisation programs for use on vertical panel saws are available on the market. Please contact your dealer or customer service adviser. He will devise a solution customised to your requirements.
Autumn 2009: Transmission of externally produced Excel cutting lists by means of a USB stick to the touchscreen (models CONTROL / EVOLUTION09) will be possible.
7. Location in the workshop
What are the requirements in terms of the assembly location?
A solid floor surface is important. The ideal floor surface is concrete. The foundation should be horizontal, level and vibration-free.
Free-standing assembly is possible through the use of free-standing supports supplied by the factory. Here a suitable floor is important for anchoring the machine.
Space-saving wall assembly requires continuous, supporting brickwork or a wood and metal construction for attachment of the wall supports supplied.
Intrinsically, vertical panel saws require very little floor space. For feeding and working at the machine, however, a minimal floor space should be provided.
Ideally, room temperature should be constant. Operating temperature 0° - 50° C.
8. Dust extraction/ dust testing
Is retrofitting in order to comply with BG-Holz (German wood and timber insurance and safety association) dust testing possible?
Striebig panel saws which are not dust tested cannot be retrofitted to comply with the German TRK emission values required by BG Holz.
Can the external dust extraction system also be connected on the left side of the machine?
Yes, the machine's dust extraction system can be converted locally.
Can the external dust extraction system also be connected on the right side of the COMPACT model?
No, it must always be connected on the left side.
9. Accessories
4SB
Is the vacuum pump supplied with the 4SB (automatic lower-trimming-cut)?
Yes, it is included in the scope of delivery with the 4SB.
Can MDF, plaster, plastic and aluminium also be cut using the 4SB?
In principle, yes – however, it depend on factors such as weight (max. 300 kg), panel thickness, texture and cleanliness of the panel surface. In case of uncertainty, tests should be carried out
From what panel thickness and panel length can the 4SB be used?
From a panel thickness of approx. 15 mm and a minimum panel length of 1.80 m
VSA
Can the VSA scoring saw unit be retrofitted on all machines?
The scoring saw unit can be retrofitted on the AUTOMAT III, AUTOMAT III TRK, STANDARD III, STANDARD III TRK and COMPACT models. These models have been in our machine range since 1993. CONTROL and EVOLUTION odels build in 2008 or later are equipped with a VSA scoring saw unit preparation, retrofitting can be done without any problems.
WSG
Can the WSG angle cutting unit be mounted on all Striebig panel saws?
The angle cutting unit can be mounted on all models manufactured after 1968 with the exception of the TEMPOMAT.
10. Processable materials
Können Gipsplatten auf einer Striebig‐Plattensäge geschnitten werden?
Cutting plasterboard is possible. Dust formation is reduced through the use of a two-speed motor. Owing to the high levels of dust formation, we recommend using a TRK model. The following points should also be taken into account:
- The maintenance intervals for the panel saw must be shortened when cutting plasterboard.
- Different extraction systems should be available in order to separate the plaster dust from the wood dust.
Is it possible to cut plastics on Striebig panel saws?
In general, plastics can be cut on our machines. The structure and composition of the plastics can vary considerably. In order to achieve optimum cutting performance, cutting tests should be performed beforehand.
11. Investing in a new STRIEBIG
Why should an old STRIEBIG panel saw be replaced and what are the advantages?
Striebig has made great efforts in further developing the saw frame, saw beam, saw unit as well as operation and safety of the machine. This has resulted in higher precision, improved cutting quality and increased service life of the saw blades as well as convenient operation.
The dust extraction has also been steadily improved over the years. Today, values significantly below 1 mg/m³ are achieved.
All Striebig panel saws permit sizing cuts ( = cut edges ready for gluing). Additional finishing steps are thus not required.
